Mercury is considered by the World Health Organization as one of the top ten chemicals of major public health concern. It contaminated Minamata Bay, affecting thousands of human lives because of methyl mercury poisoning. The disaster drew out the world’s attention, hence the need to address the issue globally and locally.

EMB 8 AND MGB 8 CELEBRATE EARTH DAY 2019 IN CALBAYOG CITY

In celebration of the Month of Planet Earth and Earth Day 2019 and in support to the RIVERS for Life Award, the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) R8 in coordination with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) R8 spearheaded the conduct of environmental activities in Calbayog City on April 22-26, 2019.

EMB R8 SPEARHEADS FREE GARAGE EMISSION TESTING FOR DIESEL-FED VEHICLES IN USE

The Environmental Management Bureau R8, through the “Linis Tambutso, Linis Hangin Campaign,” spearheaded a Free Garage Emission Testing for the diesel-fed vehicles of Mines and Geosciences Bureau R8, the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Palo and the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Leyte on February 26 and 27, 2019.

EMB 8 HOLDS FIRST SERVICES CARAVAN IN NORTHERN SAMAR

The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Regional Office No. 8 conducted a three-day Services Caravan, which is an innovative project to bring its services closer to its clientele in the Province of Northern Samar. The Caravan was held on February 27, 2019 to March 1, 2019 at the Ibabao Hall, Provincial Capitol, Catarman, Northern Samar.
